UML, Maoists to continue parleys for common candidate for president
As the Constituent Assembly (CA) Secretariat has unveiled the election schedule for the election of president, the political parties are set to intensify parleys.
The Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and Maoists are set to hold talks on Wednesday to search for their common candidate.
Although their meeting could not reach to conclusion on Tuesday after the Maoists rejected UML's former general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal for the post, the two parties will hold talks again on Wednesday.
As per the election schedule, the parties need to file nomination of their candidates for president till Wednesday evening based on political understanding. In the absence of such understanding, nominations can be filed on Thursday.
President can be elected based on simple majority in CA. Between them, Maoists and UML enjoy comfortable majority. nepalnews.com sd Jul 16 08
