CIAA not to initiate action against ex-ministers
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has decided not to initiate action against the ministers who served during the direct rule of then King Gyanendra.
On Tuesday, CIAA recommended the government to only recover millions of rupees from ministers of the then royal cabinet, Kamal Thapa, Tanka Dhakal and Shrish SJB Rana.
The ex-ministers have been accused by the High Level Investigation Commission for misuse of the state treasury while suppressing the Jana Andolan II.
However, the CIAA recommendation did not mention anything about chairman of the then cabinet, former king Gyanendra and two of his vice-chairmen Dr Tulsi Giri and Kirtinidhi Bista on their involvement on misuse of state treasury.
The letter by the CIAA to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers stated to recover Rs 9,718,020 from Kamal Thapa, Rs 708,500 from Tanka Dhakal and Rs 3,618,500 from Shrish SJB Rana. nepalnews.com ia July 16 08
