TU not to take admission in PCL

Tribhuvan University (TU) said it won't take admission for the intermediate level from this academic session as per the decision of the government.

The government decided to include grade XI and XII under school system operational under the Higher Secondary Education Board.

However, the student bodies have been threatening to begin stir if TU did not open admission for intermediate level immediately. They picketed the TU office Wednesday demanding admission notice.

TU, under pressure from student organisations, had taken admission in intermediate level last year delaying a month. It is estimated that 45,000 students were admitted to TU in Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) last year.

Government has not revised the curriculum of PCL level for the last two decades with the aim to remove it from university level. nepalnews.com ia July 17 08
