First Nepali women's conference in US
The Nepali Women's Global Network has announced first
annual Nepali Women's Conference with the slogan of "Nepali Women Building Bridges, Advocacy, Collaborations
and Research" on August 9, at the University of
Connecticut, Storrs, USA.
According to a statement, this conference will be the
first of its kind. The purpose of the conference is to
create a dialogue on issues pertaining to women and women
of Nepali origin.
The organisers say this will also be an opportunity to
highlight NWGN mission and explore collaboration and
partnerships with various organisations to increase access
to resources for Nepali women.
The conference will feature such distinguished guest
speakers as Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise, Nepali Ambassador
to the United States, Dr. Bidya Ranjeet, Dr. Annapurna
Deo, and women's rights activist and Constituent Assembly
member Sapana Pradhan Malla.
Workshops will include issues such as access to education
and political advancement, domestic violence and
trafficking of women and girls. By uniting scholars,
researchers, and practitioners, NWGN expressed hope to
create a lasting forum for those interested in issues of
importance to Nepali women.
