Newly elected vice president of Nepal Parmananda Jha has said that Nepal's nationality is not in crisis even as leaders of some political parties are talking about impending threat to nationality.
Talking exclusively to Nepalnews, VP Jha asked those who are claiming that the country's nationality is in crisis
to clarify how it is so.
Some days ago, senior leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist) and CPN (UML) had warned of danger in national
integrity and nationality of the country when the Madhesi parties were obstructing the proceedings of the Constituent Assembly, demanding constitutional guarantee of 'single Madhes province'.
"No evidence proves that Nepal's nationality is in crisis," he said. Saying that such claim was directed to Madhes and Madheshi people, he expressed confidence that Madhesi people would not hurt the country's nationality. Jha belongs to Madhesi community.
He also expressed support to the demands of Madhes-based parties saying that they were not demanding any new thing but just what was promised earlier by the government. "The government escaped from fulfilling its responsibility as per its promises," Jha said.
The VP said that the Madhes movement intensified as the state rejected even to recognize the existence of Madhes.
He claimed that he was elected Vice President as per the need of the country and Madhes. nepalnews.com July 22 08
