Khotang faces food shortage
Khotang district has been facing shortage of food items
leading to starvation of the thousands of people for the
last three months.
According to reports, thousands of villagers of the
district are close to starving after the Nepal Food
Corporation (NFC) reduced the quota of food grains to the
district.
The refusal of the local contractors to deliver food
grains to the district on time further complicated the
problem.
The villagers have been visiting the district
administration on a daily basis demanding immediate supply
of food grains.
NFC allocated 4,500 quintals of rice for the district last
year. Stocks in Halesi, Aiselukharka and Khotang bazaar
depots are exhausted. nepalnews.com ia July 24 08
