Dhanusha constituency-5 vacated as Dr Yadav elected President

Kul Bahadur Gurung, who has been acting as the speaker of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Wednesday announced during the house session that Constituency-5 of Dhanusha district had been automatically vacated after Dr Ram Baran Yadav got elected as the first President of the country.

Dr Yadav, then general secretary of the Nepali Congress, had won the election to CA member from that constituency.

Article 36 (b) and its clause 4 of the Interim Constitution states that constituency will be automatically vacated if a CA member is elected to the post of President or Vice President.
