Fuel crisis may deepen: NOC
The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has warned that the fuel crisis in the country might further deepen as its fuel stock is depleting very fast.
The state-owned distributor of petroleum products, which has already curtailed petroleum supplies citing shortfall in imports, said that the current stock of petrol is just enough to support two day's demand.
NOC officials told local newspapers that the problem arose because it has not been able to pay for adequate imports. They said that its Indian supplier (Indian Oil Corporation) has now reduced supply to 1,000 Kiloliters a day, which is a third of the country's daily demand.
According to NOC, it has to pay Rs 5.44 billion to IOC in outstanding dues just to resume normal supplies. nepalnews.com ag July 29 08
