Cabinet decides to allow Ratna to stay in the palace

The cabinet meeting held on Sunday evening has decided to allow mother of ex-King Gyanendra, Ratna and his close relative Sarala to stay within the bungalow where they are currently staying at within the Narayanhiti royal palace complex.

"They will be allowed to stay where they have been staying for the time being. But their place will be partitioned," said a minister without wanting to be named.

Ratna, 80, is staying at Mahendra Manjil within the palace compound. Sarala is said to be a concubine of late King Tribhuwan. Both had expressed wish to stay where they have been living even after the government asked the ex-King and his family to move out of Narayanhiti.

Earlier, the cabinet had decided to provide Nagarjuna palace to ex-King Gyanendra.

Meanwhile, the minister said that cabinet meeting, on Sunday, did not take any decision regarding petroleum supplies and others. nepalnews.com sd Jun 08 08
