SC rejects writ challenging cabinet decision
The Supreme Court has rejected a writ on Tuesday challenging the decision of the council of ministers to provide Nagarjuna Palace and security to former king Gyanendra Shah.
The courts refused to register the writ by advocate Bhupendra Pokhrel saying that the decision was of a political nature and cannot be tested at the court.
"Since this is a political issue and the decision has not infringed the fundamental rights of the petitioner, there is no need to accept the petition," a rejection order passed by Supreme Court registrar said.
Pokhrel attempted to file the writ challenging the government decision and demanding that constituent assembly must decide on such facilities.
In the meantime, ex-king Gyanendra is set to leave the Narayanhiti Palace today evening after handing over crown and scepter and his property details to the government. He is likely to hold press meet before leaving the palace. nepalnews.com ia June 11 08
