School principal shot dead

Unidentified assailants murdered a school principal after abducting him in Dhanusha district Sunday.

Bindeshwor Mahato, principal of Rastriya Secondary School in Hariharpur VDC was abducted two days ago along with one other man Kapaleshwor Saha before being shot dead. However, Saha had managed to escape from the clutches of the abductors.

Police said Mahato's body was found in the banks of the Jalad river today morning, a place near his home in Mahendranagar VDC 1, Sakhuwa. Initial investigation revealed that the assailants had shot him on his head from behind.

Mahato's body has been sent to Janakpur hospital for postmortem.

Nobody has owned up responsibility for the killing nor has the motive for the murder come to light.

Dhanusha has lately seen increase in number of abduction and murder cases carried out mostly by armed outfits active in those parts.
