'Nepali national Krishna was framed for crime he never committed'

Accusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigating the Arushi-Hemraj double murder case of trying to falsely implicate Nepali national Krishna Thapa by subjecting him to severe form of torture, a human rights agency in India has expressed grave concern over it.

"Krishna is being falsely implicated. There is a general feeling among both Nepalis and Indians that he is being made a scapegoat for a crime he never committed," said the Atman Trust, a rights agency that works against human rights violation in India, in a statement Wednesday.

CBI arrested Thapa on charges of being an accomplice in a mysterious murder that took place in a Noida apartment in Uttar Pradesh, India over a month back. Arushi Talwar, a ninth grader and, Hemraj, 45, a Nepali national who worked as a domestic help were found murdered in the apartment in a very mysterious circumstances.

"He (Krishna) has become a victim of extreme and unfortunate circumstances. This is a matter of grave concern, as it is tantamount to gross violation of the law," the Trust said.

The trust also called on the media to intervene and highlight Thapa's case so that he is spared the humiliation he is being subjected to on a daily basis in the ongoing investigations. nepalnews.com June 26 08
