4 killed in monsoon havoc
Floods and landslide triggered by incessant rains claimed lives and wreaked
havoc at various places in the country in the past two days.
So far four people have been killed and property worth million of rupees
damaged in floods and landslide that hit mid-western Salyan, Gulmi, Jajarkot
and Nawalparasi districts. People were also displaced at some places due to
the natural calamity.
The Kathmandu Post reported that Purna Bahadur BK and Rudri Pun of Bame VDC
of Salyan district were killed on the spot and another sustained injuries in
a landslide on Saturday.
In Jajarkot, Jayakali Pun of Khalanga-4 was swept away by flooded Risang
Khola on Saturday while she was returning home from Khalanga bazaar. Her
body was recovered Sunday morning, the report said.
Similarly, Jhabinda Kunwar of Nayagaun VDC of Gulmi district drowned while
she was attempting to cross the swelling Panaha stream on Sunday.
In Nawalparasi, eight families were displaced because of a landslide at
Deurali-7. They are all taking refuge at their neighbors' houses now.
The report said that more than 100 bighas of land at Paklihawa VDC-9 in the
district has been swept away by the flooded Narayani River, destroying
sugarcane and paddy worth thousands of rupees.
Likewise, a house at Shreenagar Bazaar of Khalanga and Kalika Secondary
School at Kajeeeri were damaged by a landslide. However, no human casualties
