Six Congress leaders quit party over candidacy row
Six leaders of the Nepali Congress quit the party and joined the Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) on Monday, citing dissatisfaction with the way the NC leadership nominated its candidates for the constituent assembly election.
Organising a press conference in the capital, NC leaders Bijaya Kumar Gachchhedar, Sarat Singh Bhandari, Hari Narayan Chaudhry, Ram Janam Chaudhary, Mangal Prasad Tharu and Lachhman Prasad Mehta announced their resignation from the NC.
All six were members of the Interim Legislature Parliament and they resigned from the parliament as well.
The NC defectors also announced that they had entered the MJF.
The MJF had, along with a number of Madhesi parties, submitted its closed list of candidates at the Election Commission on Sunday. nepalnews.com mk Mar 03 08
