Businessmen demand security, submit memo to PM
The business community organised demonstration in the capital on Monday demanding guarantee of security.
The demonstration was organised in the initiation of Federation of Nepali Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) after the murder of a trader in Kathmandu some days back.
They also submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala urging the government to devise a mechanism to create environment to carry on with business without fear.
They said government must ensure end of abduction, threats and intimidation and extortion from all sides and prompt actions be taken against all those involved in such criminal activities.
The government had earlier given assurance to establish industrial security groups but no steps have been taken for its establishment until today. nepalnews.com ia Mar 04 08
