Two die, over 3 dozens injured in separate road mishaps
Two persons died and at least three dozen others were injured in separate road accidents in national highways Friday.
One Krishna Prasad Gupta, 60, died on the spot when the bus he was traveling in met with an accident at Badahari Bazaar section of Mahendra Highway in Dhanusha district. Some 15 passengers were also injured in the accident. The Makalu Yatayat bus with the number plate Na 3 Kha 6247 was heading to Kakadbhitta from Kathmandu .
Reports quoted doctors as saying that the condition of the injured persons were serious and have been sent to Dharan for medical treatment while the rest are undergoing treatment at the Janakpur Zonal hospital.
In another incident, one Sitamaya Karki, 38, of Fulbariya VDC-1 died on the spot when she was hit by a jeep while crossing the road in Siraha district.
Similarly, a passenger bus heading to Butwal from Narayangarh met with an accident at Daunne of Nawalparasi, leaving more than two dozen people injured.
According to police, among the injured the condition of four is very critical. Seven among the injured are undergoing treatment at the Kaligandaki hospital while the rest are getting medical attention in Lumbini hospital.
There has been increase in reports of people being killed or injured in road accidents of late, caused mainly by reckless driving and poor conditions of roads. nepalnews.com ag Mar 07 08
