Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said he wishes to retire from active politics after the constituent assembly election.

Before returning to Kathmandu from his hometown Biratnagar on Tuesday, the octogenarian leader told reporters at the Biratnagar airport that he would not be involved in politics after holding the polls.

Koirala further said he wanted to transfer the leadership of his party, Nepali Congress, to the new generation.

He also claimed that the NC would win majority in the CA polls, insisting that he party had not suffered any big loss due to the exit of some central leaders from Terai.

When asked if he saw any threat from monarchy to the CA polls, PM Koirala claimed that no force could disrupt the polls. nepalnews.com ia Mar 11 08
