NC to release its manifesto
Nepali Congress (NC) is all set to release its election manifesto at a
programme to be held in party office in Sanepa on Thursday afternoon.
Party president and prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala is expected to
release the manifesto.
The NC's manifesto proposes prime minister as the chief executive and
president as the ceremonial head of state.
The NC has emphasised on democracy and rule of law, accepted federalism
and embraced liberal economy with great emphasis put on private sector,
according to reports.
The party has also proposed to make Nepali Army inclusive and professional.
The NC has not, however, specified the number ofs federal units.
The NC's proposal for head of state resembles the one proposed by the UML
in its manifesto. Unlike them, the Maoists have proposed for president as
the chief executive. nepalnews.com sd Mar 13 08
