Chief of Army Staff General Rookmangud Katawal has reiterated that the army is a non-political institution, claiming that it wants to become the "foundation of democratic system".

Speaking at a convocation function of Command and Staff Training held at Nepal Army headquarters Wednesday, COAS Katawal said that the Nepal Army is a non-political, inclusive, transparent institution having all the national characteristics in it.

"The army wants to become a firm foundation of a democratic system that is agreeable to the entire Nepalis as well as the international community so that ordinary Nepalis would be able to live their daily life peacefully and comfortably," he said.

Katawal gave away certificates to all 52 successful participants of Command and Staff Training amidst the convocation function.

According to a statement issued by NA Public Relations Directorate, the participants of the nine-month long rigorous training held at Shivapuri Training Academy include 49 NA officers, two Armed Police Force officers and an officer from the National Investigations Department. nepalnews.com ag Mar 13 08
