UML shied away from leftist alliance under US behest,
claims Prachanda

Maoist chairman Prachanda has accused the Unified
Marxist Leninist (UML) of running away from leftist
alliance under pressure from the United States.
"After the US ambassador told them not to forge
alliance with the Maoists, the UML ran away," he said,
addressing an election rally at Dahaban in Rolpa,
Monday.
Prachanda added that the US had told the UML that it
did not want to see the Maoists winning.
Prachanda's remarks are the latest in the series of
comments and counter-comments being made by the
leaders of Maoists and UML over the issue of leftist
