8 die in Doti bus mishap
At least eight persons were killed and some 30 others injured when a bus
met with an accident in Amargadhi Municipality in far-western Doti
district on Tuesday night.
The jeep was carrying mostly Nepali Congress supporters returning from an
election rally which was addressed by NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Reports say the bus heading to Sakyal VDC from Dadelhura veered off the
road and fell some 200 meters down.
Initial investigation has revealed that the bus driver was high on alcohol
and could not control the bus.
According to District Police Office, Dadeldhura, four persons died on the
spot while four others died while undergoing treatment at a Dadelhurahospital. It was not immediately known how many of those killed were NC
supporters.
The deceased have been identified as Dhirendra Rawal, Ram Bahadur Deuba,
Nara Bahadur Saud, Nar Bahadur Thagunna, Lal Bahadur Saud, Padam Nepali
and Jaya Bahadur Deuba. The identity of one person killed in the accident
is yet to be ascertained.
Among those injured, 13 are being treated at a hospital in Nepalgunj and
17 are undergoing treatment at Team Hospital in Dadeldhura.
