NSP-A factions release separate election manifestos

The intra-party row in Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi) appears to have grown worse with the two factions, one led by industry minister Shyam Sundar Gupta and another led by party general secretary Sarita Giri, releasing separate election manifestos on Wednesday.

Gupta and Giri held separate press conferences in the capital and unveiled the election manifestos.

The manifesto released by Gupta faction proposes three provinces - Terai, hills and mountain region - two chambers of parliament at the centre and legislative assembly in the provinces.

The party has also proposes the Prime Minister as chief executive and the President as constitutional head, who will be elected from the lower of the central parliament and the state assembly.

The manifesto further says the chief ministers of the states will be elected from the state assembly while the President will appoint a governor in each state. It also emphasises the need to restructure the judiciary.

Likewise, the manifesto released by general secretary Giri says the party stands in favour of federal republic, proposing the Prime Minister as the chief executive and the President as ceremonial head of state. nepalnews.com mk Mar 18 08
