YCL apprehends four MMT cadres
Even as they are usually condemned for continuing with their 'donation
drive' and mistreatment of cadres of rival parties, the Maoist-aligned
Young Communist League (YCL) cadres seem to have done a worthy job by
nabbing four Madheshi Mukti Tigers (MMT) men including its district
commander in Suryapur VDC of Rupandehi district when the latter were
extorting money Sunday.
MMT commander Surendra Kewat including Mohan Mallaha and Shivaji Chauhan,
both Indian nationals, were apprehended by YCL members when they were
demanding donations from Suryapur VDC secretary while another Bishnu Yadav
was nabbed a little while after.
After keeping the MMT men who were involved in various criminal activities
including abduction, extortion and killing in the name of 'Madhesi
liberation' into their 'custody' for some time, YCL cadres later handed
them over to the police.
The four are currently being kept in custody at the Area Police Office in
Butwal but have not been made public as police say they need more time to
investigate the case.
YCL district chairman Sujit told the media that the four MMT men have
already admitted of killing a Nepali Congress activist Gokarna Kandel in
Suryapura a month ago and were also planning to murder Bangai VDC
vice-chairman Satyanarayan Yadav. nepalnews.com ag Mar 24 08
