Prachanda talks of revolt if polls disturbed

Maoist chairman Prachanda has said there would be big revolt if efforts are made to disturb the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

Addressing an election rally in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur on Monday, Prachanda said that monarchists, domestic and foreign reactionaries were plotting to foil the election.

Prachanda also slammed Nepali Congress (NC) and Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) for 'not understanding what CA is all about.'

Prachanda said his party was keeping patience despite the killing of its cadres in order to make the election successful.

The rally was organised by the Maoists as a part of their election campaigning in Lalitpur district.

In Lalitpur, Maoists have fielded deputy commander of Maoist army Barshaman Pun aka Ananta in constituency 1; Raj Kaji Maharjan in constituency 2 and minister Pampha Bhusal in constituency 3. Analysts have predicted three-way contest among NC, UML and Maoists in all of the three constituencies of Lalitpur.

In constituencies 1 and 3, former minister Keshar Bahadur Bista is also in the election fray representing Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP, led by Surya Bahadur Thapa). Bista is a veteran politician from the district. nepalnews.com sd Mar 24 08
