EC to take prompt action against violators of code
The Election Commission (EC) has instructed its election officers to take
immediate action against political parties and candidates if they are
found violating the election code of conduct.
Mentioning that there have been complaints in the media of violation of
code of conduct, the EC said chief election officers and election officers
have been asked to check activities that are against the election code of
conduct, and take quick action against the violators.
Meanwhile, the EC has said that some election observers are found to have
been campaigning in favour of political parties, or have supported certain
candidates.
In a statement Tuesday, EC said that observers are required to maintain
impartiality in their job and added that the IDs of those violating the
Observation Guidelines could be immediately scrapped. nepalnews.com mk Mar 25 08
