Friday's talks with armed Terai outfits put off
After the armed outfits put forth conditions, their
talks with the government scheduled to take place in
Janakpur on Friday has been put off.
The four armed outfits - Samyukta Janatantrik Terai
Mukti Morcha, Terai Cobra, Madhesi Mukti Tigers and
Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha - had earlier agreed to
hold talks with the government.
But they later demanded that their cadres arrested by
the police must be released first.
According to Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram
Chandra Poudel, the talks will now be held after
discussion among seven party leaders.
Poudel had written a letter urging the outfits to come
for dialogue a few days ago after which the outfits
had responded positively.
However, the four outfits do not include Janatantrik
Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-Jwala Singh) and Akhil Terai
Mukti Morcha led by Jai Krishna Goit - the two most
active armed outfits in the region. nepalnews.com sd
