Polls may delay SLC results
The publication of the results of this year's School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations which concluded yesterday is likely to be delayed by a couple of weeks owing to the Constituent Assembly (CA) election, according to the Exam Controller's Office, Sanothimi.
The controller's office said that as the teachers have been deployed for the election purpose in every district the process of checking answer
sheets will start behind the schedule, which may also cause some delay in publishing the results.
Exam Controller Harka Prasad Shrestha, however, assured that the SLC results would be published by the third week of June.
This year the SLC examinations - often called the 'iron gate' because of poor pass-out record of examinees - had started much earlier than in the past as its date clashed with the constituent assembly polls. Last year, the examinations were held on April 3 and the results were published on June 4.
A total of 379,377 students sat for SLC examination this year. Of the total students, 319,532 are regular and 59,845 are exempted. The regular students comprise 147,588 girls while exempted category consists of 34,788 girls. nepalnews.com ag Mar 28 08
