Addressing a mass gathering in Kathmandu organised by the UML as part its poll campaign in Kathmandu, Nepal said the attacks on cadres of rival parties is not a way to win votes of the people.

The UML strongman further said that the continuous unruly behaviour of Maoist cadres has raised doubts whether the election would be held on the scheduled date, April 10.

Referring to the criticism of the Nepal Army, Nepal said the whole institution should not be criticised just because of the actions of few army officers.

Speaking on the occasion, newly added central committee member of the UML Rabindra Shrestha - former politburo member of the Maoists, stressed that the UML should lead the government after the constituent assembly election.

Another UML leader K. P. Oli said it is the unruly behavior of the Maoists that hindered the leftist alliance in the polls.

Rallies were taken out from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley before a mass meeting at the Khula Manch. Candidates contesting the election from the 15 constituencies in Katthmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts had led the rallies. nepalnews.com ia Mar 19 08
