EC summons top three leaders
The Election Commission (EC) has summoned Prime Minister and president
of Nepali Congress (NC) Girija Prasad Koirala, general secretary of
Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist chairman
Prachanda for discussion on growing poll-related violence.
The EC has invited the top three leaders at its office at 3 pm on Monday.
The invitation comes at a time when there has been a surge in clashes
among party workers and increasing violations of the election code of
conduct.
The EC had earlier consulted with second rung leaders of the three
parties over the same issue.
The EC wrote a letter, Sunday, inviting the three leaders after the
chief election commissioner returned to the capital from his tour to
