Panta to represent sexual minorities in CA

The constituent assembly responsible for drafting of the new constitution of Nepal will also have the representative of the third sex.

Naya Patrika daily writes, Nepal Communist Party (United) has nominated Sunil Babu Panta, chairman of the Blue Diamond Society (BDS), as the member of constituent assembly under proportional representation seat. The society has been fighting for equal rights of the sexual minorities for years.

Nepal Communist Party (United) has won five seats under PR system.

Four months back, the Supreme Court had given verdict in favour of sexual minorities in response to the case filed by BDS asking the government to draft law legalising the identity of the sexual minorities.
