EC annuls TMLP candidate's nomination for PR seat

The Election Commission has scrapped the nomination of Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (TMLP) candidate Dr Vijay Kumar Singh for the Constituent Assembly seat under the proportional representation (PR) system.

In a statement Wednesday, EC said Singh's nomination was terminated as he was found to be still holding a government position, as a first class employee at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital.

The TMLP candidate is known to have tendered his resignation from his post, but the Ministry of Health and Population, under which he worked, confirmed that the resignation had not been approved yet, EC said.

The EC also asked the TMLP to recommend another name from its closed list of PR candidates today itself. nepalnews.com mk May 07 08
