At a time when major parties have intensified parleys to building broad
consensus on major issues, senior leader of the Nepali Congress Sher
Bahaudr Deuba has said his party will not forge alliance with the Maoists
unless they meet the seven-point condition put forward by the NC.
Addressing a gathering of party workers in Pokhara Wednesday, Deuba said
collaboration with the Maoists was not possible in the existing conditions
and made it clear that party was resolute about the seven conditions,
which include dissolution of the YCL, and return of the properties seized
during the insurgency.
Since the Maoists have become the largest party they must show willingness
to meet these conditions, the former Prime Minister said.
Deuba also claimed that the NC didn't talk about these conditions before
the Constituent Assembly polls in order to help the election process. nepalnews.com mk May 21 08
