Shrestha murder case still looms in mystery
In yet another twist to the murder case of businessman Ram Hari Shrestha, doctors at the Bharatpur Medical College said on Thursday that though a person named Ram Hari Shrestha died while undergoing medical treatment at the hospital, he could not be identified as Shrestha of Koteshwor because the person they attended, according to hospital records, hailed from Jutpani VDC-3 in Chitwan. They also urged not to interpret the treatment politically.
Calling a press conference at the college, Director Dr. V Natraj Prasad said that the College carried out the treatment "in service motive and good intention with all due duties".
The College also provided the details of the mysterious murder in a written statement to the Chitwan District Police, reports said.
The doctors at the Bharatpur Medical College had on Tuesday said Shrestha had died on May 8 while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, a revelation that proved false claims by the Maoist leadership that Shrestha had died at midnight on May 10 while on the way to Kathmandu for treatment.
Although the hospital is required to inform local police while providing treatment to those injured in road accidents or beatings, hospital staffs did not inform police about the incident.
With this new revelation Shrestha's murder case has become even more mysterious. nepalnews.com ag May 23 08
