Three parties part ways agreeing to meet again on Monday

The meeting of the top leaders of three parties – Nepali Congress, Unified Marxist Leninist and Maoists – ended inconclusively, Sunday.

The meeting, which started from 8:30 am and went till noon, ended after the three parties agreed to continue internal homework and meet again on Monday.

Sunday's meeting had taken place at the initiative of Maoist chairman Prachanda, who was urged by Prime Minister Koirala to take steps to resolve the problem and form new government.

According to NC leader Amod Prasad Upadhyaya, they asked the Maoists to improve behavior and end the environment of fear/terror. "Prachanda asked how he can demonstrate it and said he was willing to bring out a document if necessary. But we told him that rather than any document, we want to see the change in practice," Upadhyaya told reporters.

He said that Prachanda has also been asked to hold dialogue with other newer parties in the Constituent Assembly.

NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi said that the Maoists will bring their proposal on formation of new government and CA meeting on Monday.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala did not take part on Sunday's meeting held in Baluwatar. Maoist leaders Prachanda, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal and Mohan Baidya ; and UML leaders Jhalnath Khanal, Amrit Bohora, Bharat Mohan Adhikary were present in the meeting. nepalnews.com sd/ps May 25 08
