Curfew continues in Dhangadi

The Kailali district administration continues to impose indefinite curfew in the district headquarters of Dhangadi for the second day Thursday.

The curfew order issued Wednesday after a scuffle between police and demonstrators leaving three dead, has been continued in view of the possibility of further violence.

Three people killed Wednesday were identified as Rajkumar Chaudhary, Jagram Chaudhary and Rambikchha Rana of Urma VDC.

Due to continued curfew order, no newspapers were published from the town on Thursday. Media persons have been forced to remain hiding for fear of further attack from Maoist affiliated Young Communist League cadres.

Irate demonstrators took to streets after YCL members publicly beat up local journalist Lucky Chaudhary Monday.

However, a local Maoist leader claimed that nobody from his party was involved in mistreating journalist Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, local leaders of the various political parties have gathered at the district administration office to discuss the matter and find amicable solution to the crisis. nepalnews.com ia May 29 08
