Differences within Maoists force postponement of cadres’ conference
As the differences within the Maoists have come to the fore, the party has postponed, by one day, the National Conference of Cadres, which was earlier slated to begin from Thursday.
The debates over two different political reports presented at the central committee meeting started from Wednesday where different members of the committee expressed differing opinions.
Nine central committee members expressed their views on the two reports presented at the meeting – one by party chairman and prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and another by senior leader Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’.
Around two dozen central committee members are yet to speak on those reports.
Party spokesperson Krishna Mahara said that the conference had to be put off by one day because many central committee members were yet to speak on the reports.
The conference has assumed greater significance since it will witness debates on two conflicting reports. The conference was expected to forge party strategy in the current situation. nepalnews.com sd Nov 20 08
