Security watch on Maoist CA members increased
Following the statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister
Bamdev Gautam that the government would not allow arms inside
Constituent Assembly (CA), security personnel have increased their
watch on Maoist CA members.
According to Nepal Samacharpatra daily, security officials posted at
CA have said that they have received orders to step up security
screening for CA members, employees and journalists beginning Sunday.
The security sources revealed that most of the Maoist CA members who
previously used to bring arms or armed guards did not come on Sunday.
And even those who came were without arms, the sources added.
The row over arms was ignited after news reports came out that some
Maoist CA members were bringing in their own armed guards into the CA.
This led to severe protest by other parties, particularly the main
opposition Nepali Congress (NC). nepalnews.com sd Sep 29 08
