Changing colors of revolution!
Niraj Aryal
The outrageous remarks by regional and international leftist revolutionary groupings against the Maoist in Nepal, to what they call surrender: that amounts to a betrayal, to the democratic system by signing a peace accord with the government may sound confusing for the people in Nepal, who suffered during the decade long Maoist led bloodshed. The question is, do these revolutionaries prefer hysterical war against their enemies or is there any possibility for compromise to restore peace?
Comrade Baburam recently agreed talking to an Indian newspaper that the current agreement with the government is no more than a compromise document with the democratic system.
Whether we call it Maoist surrender or a compromise, to the believers of a democratic system, this has set an example for other revolutionary groupings that are waging war against any government or forces by approving that there is no other system as efficient than a democratic system.
But what this compromise means to those with whom the Nepali Maoist, shared blood relations ideologically? Analyzing current outrageous remarks that are being propagated against the Maoist in Nepal by their regional and international partners of the past, indicates that this surrender has brought no less than disgrace to the entire communist revolution that the Nepali Maoists themselves were proud of in the not so distant past. It is worth remembering here, the Maoist revolution in Nepal was considered amongst successful communist revolutions in the whole world in the recent history.
In another context, one fine chilly morning listening to the Kantipur Diary, in the regular news updates from the Kantipur F.M, the entire Maoist community must have been shocked to hear that it was non other than Comrade Prachanda himself and the current Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala along with other corrupt leaders belonging to either the UML or the NC or the RPP or the Sadbhawana were using illegally acquired vehicles from either the government organizations or from some businessmen. Except Prachanda this was totally justified with reasons known to all but what was boggling that the supreme commander himself, who led the revolution that intended to rectify traditional blunders, was himself involved in such acts of nuisance. Worth remembering that Comrade Prachanda is illegally using a SUV obtained from a businessman owing businesses in Balaju, Kathmandu, repported the Kantipur Diary. This is perhaps the result of the compromise with a democratic government by the revolutionaries of the past.
Comrade Prachanda perhaps using the same illegally obtained vehicle arrives in a program, delivering a speech claims that he is still leading the revolution, this time in a table but not in the battle field.
He declares waging war in the battle field was much easier than taking part in the table talks. This is also justifies and who cares the comments coming as it does from various leftist national and international quarters. All in the name of power- The ultimate goal of any revolution!
