Shortcut to success?
Niraj Aryal
The country is surely inching towards peace and stability; this is what is clearly visible from a well protected vitrine somewhere in Kathmandu. Whereas, in the war torn areas the mindset may still look skeptical. But there is always a sorry tale to tell and that is, the time immemorial sufferings in the remote areas have brought no change as yet in the country. This time it may be different so let’s see how long will it take the Maoist leaders to forget their followers in the villages.
The Maoists leaders may completely disagree to this viewpoint but it was the final change in the Maoist tactic focusing on the Kathmandu politics that brought this sudden change in the traditional power setup in the country. The importance of Kathmandu centered politics always plays an important role to bring change in the nation. The change this time as well came into effect with a brief period of suffering from the Kathmandu dwellers. So, the analysis hereafter is made considering the present atmosphere in Kathmandu.
Obviously, Kathmandu is much more relaxed. Add to this, the arrival of the Maoist leaders in the capital and their continuous magnanimity towards peace initiatives is bringing all smiles back to the capital.
Whereas, business houses stationed in Kathmandu and other industrial districts may have a different story to tell. Putting into words of what they had to say, it has brought them no more than a misery. There are always two sides of a story and the other side has to convey a different perspective. “In all people in the streets look in a festive mood, and this is what matters the most”, may say Maoist leaders in response.
The men in the government also need a pat in their back, otherwise the same old faces that were once rejected and also not expected to do their job well are coming of age. And the swiftness of the job done has stunned a many, which may ensure a durable(?) peace.
In the durability of the present initiative, people may still prefer to have a different perspective and may also analyze it from different angle. To this job very quickly done people call it rather hastily done succumbing to the Maoist pressure rather than considering the majority opinion.
And there is obviously no shortcut to success.
