THE ROYAL CROWN AND 2 MILLION NEPALESE CITIZEN
Govinda Nath Pandeya
After about 30 years, Democracy was re-established in Nepal through the people's movement of 2046 BS. As a human being the Nepalese people dreamt about true development in the country through political changes and this not only made them feel happy but almost all the Nepalese people celebrated the day with great joy. The Royal family who had always thought that the country's peace depended upon its people's satisfaction let democracy gets re-stored into the nation. However, who could understand the true intention of the so-called leaders of that time who had well planned program of "Grab as many at one time to live a life time opportunity". The innocent citizens became a goat that was ready to be sacrificed.
The so-called leaders who had uttered out great slogans and gave beautiful dreams to their followers started showing their real identity as soon as democracy was re-stored into the country some 14 years back. The so-called leaders were highly committed to raise their standard of living by summing up the time they had devoted in re-storing democracy into Nepal. Each and every second they had devoted in motivating the people to fight against the Panchayati Regime was calculated and the amount they got was charged with double or say triple interest rate that made them turn out to be multi-millionaire within a few months. Those who had to strive for a plate of hot meal started talking in terms of Five Star dinner plates and those who hardly had a single paisa to mend up their slippers started importing expensive clothes because their main intention to re-store democracy into the country was to taste the aristocrat life style rather than help the people enjoy the lavish taste of democracy and development in the country. Upon comparing our so-called leaders with the freedom fighters of various countries I feel ashamed to see how greedily our so-called leaders have been involved in filling up their pockets in the past days. Not a single Lal Bahadur Shastri nor Mahatma Gandhi nor a single Nelson Mandela was born into this country. I pity upon Nepal for having given shelter to such citizens who arc ready to sell off the country for self benefit.
I wonder how our younger generation is still getting confused in the hurricane and following such leaders who have done nothing but given pain to the country during their regime. How could these so-called leaders talk about their party and the people today when they were all set to ruin their own government in the past? Wasn't it these leaders who were always in a hurry to destruct the government in every hundred days in the past? Democracy was used as a tool to create violence into the country rather than being used as a tool for sustainable development of the country. The so-called leaders considered sustainable development of the country as a hindrance for sustainable self life and thus created violence and terrorism in the country.
The so-called leaders who boast about having fought for the restoration of democracy in the country are the ones who have driven the country to bear heavy loan on its back thus giving pain for the citizens to strive for a better life. The country has become poorer and poorer where as the so-called freedom fighters have become richer.
The present situation of the country is due to the result of the mis-management of the so-called leaders who call themselves freedom fighters. But from my point of view I would rather call them viruses that have been destructing the infrastructure and the national property of the country by creating violence in the country. When the country is in dire need of good supporters the leaders have turned out to be destructor of the country thus causing hindrance in its developmental activities. I prefer calling these so-called leaders terrorists rather than calling the Maoists who are the production of the so called democratic leaders after the restoration of democracy in 2046 B.S.
It was after the restoration of democracy bribery took a major form. Due to these so-called leaders the country was facing major crisis. More-over the country was facing regular elections, bands and many disgusting incidents to which the true, nationalist citizens of this country were getting fed up with. It was when the people of this country were getting frustrated with the so-called leaders His Majesty the King took a major step. Though he had given the so-called leaders an opportunity to prove themselves they failed to do so due to which the Feb Ol^'s movement had to take place. The so-called leaders started to grumble and rumble at this movement and it was then, when they started talking about the unknown 'GRAND DESIGN' or the 'CONSTITUENCY' and many more issues were brought into as a cause to fight.
What difference can a true citizen see in between Mr. Koirala and Mr. Nepal? If viewed through the eyes of a true Nepali they are nothing more than a viral influenza ready to attack upon the country at any time for self benefit. They only think about themselves and nothing more. It is due to this reason that they are lacking of supporters now-a-days. Who would ever want to support such leaders who can not solve their internal problem on their own? Who would ever support such a leader who seeks for either a diplomat of a third country or a politician of a third country for support and move according to the steps they are being instructed. As one can clearly see that the so-called leaders being controlled by some other elements one can easily compare them with Kaji Dorje and Jayachand rather than Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
We Nepali are still confident that as long as the Royal Crown remains alive we can live as a Nepali and no other element can crush this image into pieces. No evil can ever set their eyes upon our Royal Crown. If anyone does ever try to harm the Royal Crown then they will have to see the corpse of 2 million Nepalese lining ready to be cremated at the same site. So I would like to request all the so-called leaders to stop fighting for self development and get united for the sustainable development of the country.
Maoists call off unilateral ceasefire
The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has announced to call off its unilateral ceasefire declared four months ago.
A press statement issued by the Maoist supremo, Prachanda, on Monday said his party was compelled to withdraw the ceasefire "as the government continued its military operation even during the period of unilateral ceasefire."
Citing the military operation being carried out by the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) in Rolpa and the actions against Maoist cadres in Palpa, Morang and other parts of the country during the first three-month long ceasefire, the Maoist leader said that to continue the ceasefire in this situation was “not only impossible but would also be suicidal”.
Mentioning that the ceasefire drew extensive support from within and outside the country, his party, however, deeply understood the calls made by national and international sides including the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) to extend ceasefire.
The Maoists’ action, Prachanda said, will be directed towards the “autocratic royal regime” and the municipal elections slated for February 8.
He also expressed commitment to assist the ongoing movement of the seven-party alliance as per the 12-point agreement reached earlier between the two sides.
The Maoists had announced a unilateral ceasefire on September 2, 2005 expressing solidarity to the agitation of the seven political parties and extended it for a month on December 2.
The Maoist chairman’s announcement comes despite the calls from the seven parties, national and international human rights groups, the civil society and the international community including the UN and the EU to give continuity to the truce and join the peaceful political process.
