The December incident was the first hi-jacking of a foreign airliner out of Nepal. Bao Ji Jun who slipped through immigration and customs at Tribhuvan International and boarded the aircraft has been arrested for questioning. Government has formed a three member committee under the chairmanship of Home Ministry Joint Secretary Bijaya Raj Bhattarai to investigate the lapse and submit a report within 15 days; other members of the committee are an official of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and a police officer. nepalnews.com br Nepal, Andhra Pradesh Sign Accord Kathmandu, Aug.5: In the presence of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, an agreement was signed between the Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Hydrabad Thursday to expand information technology and agriculture businesses between Nepal and the central Indian state. FNCCI President Pradip Kumar Shrestha and FAPCCI President Mohan Lal Gupta signed the deal. Shrestha asked Indian entrepreneurs to invest in the nascent information technology sector in Nepal. By coincidence, Prime Minister Koirala like American President Bill Clinton visited India's " Cyberabad" to the end of an official visit to India Wednesday. The number of Nepali stowaways in the truck was not known. " It is safe to say the police saved their lives," said Col. Attila Krisas, spokesman of the national Border Guards Headquarters in Budapest. "Another hour and they may well have died," AP quoted Krisas as saying. The Nepalis like Indians, Afghans and Somalis did not have identification papers, the report said. The incident comes after a disaster in June when 58 Chinese immigrants suffocated to death in a sealed vegetable truck as they were being transported to the English port of Dover. Accord Nepal and India have agreed to revive a joint commission headed by Foreign Ministers of the two South Asian states as an umbrella body to oversee bilateral ties. The commission will have its first meeting in Kathmandu when Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh visits Nepal later this year to inaugurate 22 bridges on the western sector of the Mahendra Highway constructed with Indian assistance. This was announced in a joint press statement issued Thursday at the end of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's two-day official visit to India. Nepal and India agreed to form a joint committee on water resources at secretary level to discuss co-operatin in water resources. The committee will meet once every six months. The two countries are discussing forming a Cultural Foundation to conserve cultural heritage sites. Deaths have been reported from Bhaktapur, Nawalparasi, Sindhuli and Udayapur districts. Helicopters rescued marooned 581 families of Narayani and Djaha villages to safer ground in Nawalparasi until Thursday as the flooded Narayani river swept away hundreds of houses, reports said. The floods triggered by incessant rains destroyed crops worth Rs.10 million, local officials said. Diarrhoea has broken out at a camp in a school where the villagers are being cared for, reports said. Gaur and surrounding areas are inundated after water overflowed from Bagmati, Lalbakiya and Jhaj rivers in Rautahat district. The flooded Triyug river in Udayapur has cut off Gaighat from the rest of the district and destroyed crops planted in several thousand ropanis of farmland, reports said. Four days of incessant rains disrupted the Janakpur-Jayanagar train service and damaged crops in Dhanusa district. Koirala and Vajpayee directed officials to demarcate the Indo-Nepal by 2003 including disputed Kalapani which has been occupied by India since the 1960's. Home Secretaries of both the countries will meet to discuss " mutual security concerns." Government decided to dismiss them last Thursday. The resignation of another police officer has been accepted while another officer has been dismissed for not reporting for work, another announcement said. Another report said many policemen who have earned their pensions are resigning after government announced increased pay for employees from this fiscal year.
