from India on the second and last leg of his two nation tour of South
Asia. Nepali soldiers have been recruited in the British army since 1815. “ The recruitment of British Gurkhas is the foundation pillar of relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom,” Acharya told the National News Agency. “ The visit will further strengthen the friendly relations subsisting between Nepal and the United Kingdom,” he said. Acharya said he will discuss with Hoon the more effective implementation of welfare schemes for ex-Gurkha soldiers from the British Army. Nepal will seek British help in developing Nepal as a training center for international peace keeping forces.
