Art for
Millennium begins
By a Post Reporter
KATHMANDU, Dec 11 -
"Art for the Millennium", an exhibition of paintings by
Kiran Manandhar started today at the National Gallery of Fine Art (NAFA),
yesterday.
The 36 paintings, some as
large as 296 by 120 are the product of the past three months of work.
Manandhar hopes that the exhibition will prompt other exhibitions
targeted for the millennium. "There has not been much done for
the millennium," says he.
There are slight
differences in the paintings this time. Manandhar has used bold black
in some of his paintings giving them a subdued look while some other
carry reflections of his previous works. Human figures, some concealed
and some outlined with strong black are also included in the show.
On the occasion, veteran
artist and painter was felicitated for his outstanding contribution to
the art world. The Ambassador of Franco Nepal Michel Lummaux and Ines
Lummaux were the guests of honour for their contribution to art in
Nepal. The exhibition was opened by President of the Nepali Congress,
Girija Prashad Koirala.
