Opionated
article
Iwould like to draw
your attention to the article "Caravan : A fake picture of
Nepal," published on November 16, 1999 in The Kathmandu Post.
Mr Rajoo’s opinions
are unqualified and highly prejudiced. He has raised a non-issue and
that is very unfortunate for this standard English daily. In the first
place, it is a very confusing write up and lacks direction. What does
he want to say?
On first reading it, I
thought it was a negatively pro-Hindu, nationalistic article, but then
a poor reader should read for the second time also and I reluctantly
did that. O my god, it’s a satire, I thought. When thousands of
Nepalis and foreigners are happily going and returning from Jai Nepal
Theatre irrespective of linguistic, racial and communal prejudices,
why does he have to raise a non-issue. The movie is an excellent piece
of art and no one, except a few like Mr Rajoo who are opionated can
think that the work has dissatisfied viewers. He raises issues of
Nepali language, constitution and Hinduism unnecessarily. These kinds
of articles are unhealthy and extremely harmful.
If this is how a film
is appreciated, then I certainly pity the critic
