Sixth Council and the third Conference of ADDC/N which concluded here on April 23 elected 23-member working committee along with Sapkota. This was formally stated at a press meet organised by ADDC/n here today.

ADDC/N Spokesperson-elect Krishna Prasad Jaisi told the reporters that the new working committee also handed a memorandum with 19-point demand to the prime minister demanding the government to approve the project passed by the District Council as it is and also to disburse the budget for the district from the concerned district instead of the centre in line with the Local Autonomy Act.

It also demanded that programmes like Bisheshowre with the Poor, Ganesh Man Santi Aviyan, Women awareness and income generation programmes should be operated through the local administration.

The new working committee also demanded that the government resolve the Maoist crisis through dialogue and provide ample compensations to the victims of the crisis. Representation of ADDC/N on the Tariff Board was another demand made to the Prime Minster.

Other demands include regulation of the "irregular" tariff by private plane and helicopter services on remote districts without road accesses. "We also urged the Prime Minster to allocate some portion of the tourism tax from the tourist areas of the districts for the development of the concerned districts," said Deep Bahadur Shahi, chairperson of Kalikot DDC and working committee member-elect of ADDC/N.

Besides the 19-point memorandum, the new working committee also demanded that the government immediately withdraw its decision of price hikes in basic commodities like food, electricity and water. Immediate preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) in line with the Mahakali Treaty and ratification of property rights bill were some other demands of ADDC/N.
