ANFA raise issue of standard at Zurich

KATHMANDU, Aug 7- The achievements gained by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) in raising the standard of football in Nepal was a talking point in the World Football Federation, Congress in Zurich, a press release issued by ANFA states.

A three member team of ANFA headed by President of the Association Ganesh Thapa returned home on Sunday after participating in the congress that was held on Aug 4 and 5.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter especially praised the efforts of ANFA in raising the football standard in Nepal. Expressing total satisfaction over the efforts of ANFA he said that the achievement of ANFA among the FIFA assisted nations is exemplary." ANFA has provided an exemplary model among the developing nations to follow suit," he said. 

Taking special time in the congress, ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, highlighted on the development of solid infrastructure carried out by ANFA and also shed light on ANFA's football academies and other programmes from the centre to regional level.

"The establishment of football academies has helped Nepal tap talented footballers from every corner of the country," Thapa said.

Thapa also expressed his confidence that the football standard in Nepal is gaining such momentum that Nepal's performance has started to show and will continue to do so on Asian level.

The press release further states that every representative of the participating nations praised and expressed their happiness over the achievement gained by ANFA.

On the occasion, documentaries on ANFA's football academies and infrastructure developed by ANFA was also shown.

Meanwhile, a meeting of South Asian Football Federation in Zurich has formed a working committee under the chairmanship of ANFA's President Ganesh Thapa, the press release further states.

The Vice President of the new working committee is Miya Mohammad Azhar of Pakistan while Sirajul Islam Bacchhu also of Pakistan is General Secretary. The new working committee also has Ibrahim Ismail as the Treasures while members are India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
