Clarification

Under the headline "NSLMB to issue public share" an interview with General Manager was published in The Kathmandu Post recently where it was quoted that financial condition was continuously improving after the Nepalese management took over from Sri Lankan managers. The report says the Nepalese management changed the worsening financial scenario by accumulating profit.

When I told this thing I had also mentioned that the change in financial scenario had been possible mainly because of tremendous cut down in overhead expenditure since the expatriates left. But, unfortunately this part of my interview is missing and I myself have felt that this might create misunderstanding with MBSL. Actually when I had given interview to other papers and monthly magazine Nispaksha and Bazar, I have clearly stated that when we talk of strong footing and efficient management we must not forget the 3 years relationship with MBSL and their efficient management. Today we have reached to this point only with the management established by Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka (MBSL) and with the effort of skilled and competent staffs.

I therefore want to clarify my actual statement through this letter.

V M Malla
General Manager
Nepal Sri Lanka Merchant Bank Ltd
