St Xaviers thrash Nava Prabhat

KATHMANDU, Dec 2 - St Xaviers School Jawalakhel thrashed Nava Prabhat School 10-1 while Uma Maheshwor recorded their win over Oasis School in the first day of Fr Moran Memorial Primary School Invitational Football Tournament, organized by St Xavier’s School, Godavari to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the school.

St Xaviers dominated the whole match never giving any chance to Nava Prabhat keeping the ball with themselves. The half-time score was 5-0 in favour of St Xaviers. Xavierians Rabin Maharjan, Nipun Shrestha and Parasar Timalsina scored twice while the only goal for Nava Prabhat came from Yubaraj Lama.

In another match played today, Uma Maheshwor School defeated Oasis 3-0 in a competitive match. The match saw more headers than ground shots and Dinesh Khadka and Ashim Basnet scored for Uma Maheshwor while the third was a suicide goal.

Earlier today the tournament was inaugurated amidst a function by Ganesh Thapa, president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) - recognized by FIFA and AFC. The chief guest of the programme was Kamala Pant, Minister of state for Women, Children and Social Welfare.

The tournament is designed for the primary students under five feet in height. Total of 18 schools are participating in the tournament. Tomorrows matches:

Brihaspati Vs Pushpanjali, Sambodhan Vs South Point, St Xaviers Godavari Blue Vs Green Lawns.
