Graft control body files its initial report

KATHMANDU,
Feb 18 - The Corruption Control Recommendation Committee, formed two months back has
prepared its preliminary report.
According
to Mahadev Yadav, coordinator of the Committee the necessary changes in the
recommendations will be made after consultation with secretaries at the ministries,
constitutional body heads and other intellectuals.
The
recommendation has emphasised on empowering the pre-existing bodies, according to Radha
Raman Upadhyaya, member of the Committee and former chief commissioner. "The problems
are arising due to inadequacies in the existing legal system, "said Upadhyaya.
"The legal provisions have to be clear and consistent."
The
recommendations have been formulated primarily according to suggestions received by the
Committee. "We have tried to analyse each of the suggestions, "said Srihari
Aryal, another member of the committee.
After
the detailed analysis, the members of the Committee have reached to a conclusion that a
"special court" has to be set up which would look into cases of corruption. The
special court should have three members and judges who have been judge at the appellate
court will be the judges.
