Kohima war epitaph

This is to thank you and Mr Yesca for the article on the Battle of Kohima and Gurkha Rifles that came out in your Sunday Post, January 16. For those whose families and relatives were involved in the British India's 2nd Division Army, the article was very poignant.

I would like to requote the inscription on the main Kohima War Memorial in honour of all the fallen Indian, British and Gurkha soldiers, "When you go home, tell them of us and say for yours tomorrow we gave ours today". A very touching epitaph indeed and it has a somber relevance to the present day Nepalese socio-political millieu.

In whatever fields you look, the hustle bustle and jockeying for power and wealth Today for oneself only at the cost of Others' Tomorrow is the tragedy of our country. In the true spirit of this epitaph, let our political masters set the example by sacrificing Theirs Today for the Tomorrows of other Nepalese.
